Summary

Problem Summary

Communal food production programs exist across Northern Manitoba, but most struggle with getting resident involvement due to individual skills and motivation barriers. The promotion of interconnectedness values and the development of a knowledge transfer network on food and agricultural literacy will be key to empowering and incentivizing individuals to participate.

Solution Summary

A 6-week exchange program for university students in Social Work programs partnering with the University of Manitoba. Students can work in and with various local Indigenous communities on driving residential support for communal food production programs and promoting bidirectional knowledge transfer that empowers both the students and the communities.
