Remote Locations in Northern Manitoba

Historical and cultural ties to the area inhibit relocation

First Nation relationship to the land is spiritual and that spiritual connection is constitutionally recognized and legally protected [1].

Regional Challenges

Supporting the God’s lake Narrows community of Northeastern Manitoba will be the primary focus. This community faces similar challenges to many others in the region.

Limited Transportation Access

No permanent roads

Boreal forest, wetlands, lakes, and permafrost make road construction in Northeastern Manitoba technically challenging and extremely expensive.

Ice Roads and Air Freight

Communities are only accessible via ice roads in the winter, and air freight which hinder frequent travel.
