The Problem Statement

The City of London, Ontario is experiencing sky high rental prices and lack of availability. The rent has gone up 7% [1], and around 6,000 people are on the waiting list for affordable housing [1]. This is leading to an increased number of people becoming homeless. Although the City of London has several programs to help support homelessness, it is not enough to move people out of poverty. There are currently 1,300 people that are homeless in the City of London [5]. There are four kinds of homelessness, we will focus on Hidden Homelessness.

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal for this challenge is Goal #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Success Criteria

Success looks like the following;

  1. A place to live when you do not have a home
  2. Getting the mental health support needed
  3. Having support to develop the skills necessary to gain employment
